Caring for an Aging Parent

Welcome to Carevisions Newsletter.

 January Update:

As we head into the new year, don't forget to talk with your accountant about possible tax deductionsfor mom and dad 's stay in long-term care or senior housing. In both Assisted and Independent Living settings, a portion of the food service costs that Mom and Dad are paying ( or you, for that matter, if you contribute a certain percentage, which varies, depending upon the state you live in, hence the advice to talk with your accountant.  If Mom or Dad live in a nursing home setting, any private contributions to their care may also have a percentage that is deductible. One of my favorite phrases to all people on the journey with a loved one in senior care is to ALWAYS ASK THE QUESTION. In this case, it may well offer you or a family member a nice tax credit.

Remember the Wizard of Oz? There is simply "no place like home".  I recently realized my mission is a whole lot more than getting families through the process of choosing a senior living setting, it has to do with  getting them and their families feeling comfortable enough that they can once again be at home., regardless of which setting they choose.  I wrote "Solutions, the Empowered Senior Care Search", based on this premise.  Solutions is now available for purchase on the Carevisions Website. Simply go to Carevisions.com.  I figure that people wanted to know how each system worked from inside, what questions needed to be asked ( that they would  NOT normally know to ask), and how to maximize funding, in order to reduce worry for the whole family.  Home is where the heart is, and we want everyone's heart to feel intact, expecially during the precious, but often emotional holiday season.

Have a very Happy New Year!!!

Angela
